  22. The problem you have is the following one:
  23. The Derringer (and any other accelerator I know of, except for the A2630) maps 
  24. its RAM outside the DMA address space of the A2000 motherboard. In other 
  25. words: your SCSI controller is not able to copy the stuff you load from HD 
  26. right into your 32 bit memory via direct memory access but the 030 itself has 
  27. to do it bit by bit resulting in the lack of performance you experienced.

  29. With a 2630 and an external SCSI card you don't have this problem, because the 
  30. 2630 mounts its RAM within the DMA range of the 2000 motherboard (starting at 
  31. $200000, were the 68000 fast RAM starts).

  33. An accelerator with a built in SCSI host (e.g. the GVP cards) has DMA to its 
  34. 32 bit RAM on the card, too.
