- The problem you have is the following one:
- The Derringer (and any other accelerator I know of, except for the A2630) maps
- its RAM outside the DMA address space of the A2000 motherboard. In other
- words: your SCSI controller is not able to copy the stuff you load from HD
- right into your 32 bit memory via direct memory access but the 030 itself has
- to do it bit by bit resulting in the lack of performance you experienced.

- With a 2630 and an external SCSI card you don't have this problem, because the
- 2630 mounts its RAM within the DMA range of the 2000 motherboard (starting at
- $200000, were the 68000 fast RAM starts).

- An accelerator with a built in SCSI host (e.g. the GVP cards) has DMA to its
- 32 bit RAM on the card, too.
